FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about how AI Crawler Guard protects WordPress sites from AI scrapers without breaking legitimate traffic.
Does this block GPTBot?+
Yes. GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Amazonbot, and the rest of our AI list are blocked the moment you enable “Block known AI crawlers.”
Will this break Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn link previews?+
No. Social bots are allowed by default, so link previews keep working. You can block them manually if you need to.
Is this plugin heavy?+
AI Crawler Guard is intentionally lightweight—under 60KB of PHP and no third-party SDKs. It adds virtually zero load time.
Does this share any data externally?+
No data leaves your site. All detection, logging, and decisions happen locally in your WordPress database.
Is this compatible with caching plugins?+
Yes. Detection runs before cache output, and we work well with WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, SiteGround Optimizer, and more.
Can I still allow some AI bots but block others?+
Absolutely. Each crawler has its own Allow/Block setting. If a bot is blocked and you change your mind, just click Allow. If it's allowed and you want to block it, click Block.
How do I clear crawler history?+
Head to the Logs page and click Clear Logs. This clears stored log entries without touching your settings or crawler overrides.
